Hysteroscopy Questions

A hysteroscopy is a minor procedure in which the lining of the womb is examined by the use of a camera.  Abnormalities identified in the lining of the womb can also be removed at the same time. It is useful to identify the cause of excessive menstrual flow, scanty menstrual flow, vaginal bleeding after menopause, unexplained infertility, repeated IVF failure etc.

Typically, it takes between 10 mins to 45 minutes depending on the findings and type of intervention.

Last meal should be at least 10 hours before, it is advisable to come with an adult to accompany me home.

It can be done at any phase of the cycle as long as the woman is not on her menstrual flow?

This is a minor procedure in which a camera is placed through the belly button in order to view inside of the tummy. It is especially needed when there is inability to conceive, unexplained abdominal pain, painful menstrual flow, unexplained infertility etc.

It takes  between 20 minutes  to 2 hours depending on the exact procedure been done.

No meals by mouth for at least 10 hours and come in the company of an adult.

For a diagnostic laparoscopy you will go back home on the same day with drugs to use by mouth. For a surgical laparoscopy you’ll stay in the hospital for 24 to 48 hours before discharge home. Can resume normal activities in another week.
