Dr Gbolahan Obajimi

Dr Gbolahan Obajimi graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in November 2000. He had his internship training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, and subsequently participated in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps Scheme at the National Hospital, Abuja, Nigeria. He commenced his Residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, in October 2002 culminating in the award of the Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in April 2008. He obtained a Master’s degree in Population and Reproductive Health (MHs Pop & RH) in November 2008. He proceeded for a Sub-Specialist program in assisted reproduction in September 2008 at Nordica Fertility Centre, Ikoyi Lagos. He participated in a Mini-Fellowship (AAGL) At the Mc Gill University, Montreal, Canada in April 2011.

He subsequently worked at Reddington Multi-Specialist Hospital Between 2011 and 2012. He was appointed lecturer 1 in August 2012 at the College of Medicine University of Ibadan and Honourary Consultant to the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in October 2018.

Dr Obajimi is an avid researcher who has published over 50 papers in learned journals and chapters in books. His clinical focus includes Infertility, Assisted conception and Gynaecological Endoscopy. He has participated in over 1500 IVF cycles and his research interests are in Andrology and Reproductive Endocrinology. He is a member of several Associations and Societies including the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Nigeria (SOGON), Association for Fertility and Reproductive Health (AFRH), Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy Surgeons of Nigeria (AGES), European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and AmericanAssociation of Gynaecologic Laparoscopist (AAGL).

Dr Obajimi enjoys travelling, listening to music, and swimming. He is a great team player, and he enjoys peer reviews. He is a visiting Consultant to several health institutions and currently an Examiner with the West African College of Surgeons.

He has served in various administrative capacities such as General Secretary, Vice-Chairman of the Medical & Dental Consultants’ Association, University CollegeHospital, Ibadan, and Sub-Dean Undergraduate(MBBS) College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. He is happily married and has 2 children.
